Specialised School Programs
Nature Explorers
Nature Explorers is based on the Forest School model. We hope that by bringing our students into nature it will help them learn in a self-guided manner and enables them to flourish as creative and innovative learners, responsible adventurers, and collaborative thinkers. Students develop a sense of respect and care for their natural world as they express wonder and interest in discovering the environment around them. Students have space to grow their critical and creative thinking skills and personal and social capability through inquiry-based learning.
Music with Mr Shaw
Older grades at Stokers Siding Public School have the unique opportunity to partake in
the Compass Music Festival and the Murwillumbah Festival of Performing Arts. These experiences allow students to perform in front of an audience, enhancing their musical skills and stage presence. Our annual talent quest further encourages students to express their creativity, with select participants representing our school at the Small Schools Talent Quest.
Sport with Mr Hollis
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world. we incorporate daily fitness and whole school sport into the physical education program to help build students fundamental movement skills
and stamina. Skills including catching, hopping, jumping and balance are built into a range of games for students to participate in. Students are offered opportunities to actively participate in carnivals involving a range of sporting events and workshops. Our sporting programs also foster and develop skills in turn taking and social skills within a climate of fun and trust.
